Neku HATES feeling helpless, so much. He'll put up with any amount of Joshua's stalker insanity to few out a few Players. <3 My Neku is just a sweetheart like that.
Very nice chapter. Gotta say, I wasn't expecting Joshua to drop the Conductor bomb so soon, seeing as he had just seen Neku for the first time in a while.
Your Hanekoma brought up a point that I wholeheartedly agree with: Joshua needs a Conductor that won't put up with his shit. Seriously, most of TWEWY's plot wouldn't have happened if he had one.
Ooooh yeah. Joshua needs someone to A) keep him from getting bored, and B) keep him from doing crazy things when he DOES get bored. With any other Composer, Kitanji would have made a great Conductor, but he was just too respectful and formal to tell Joshua to take his ideas about Erasing Shibuya and shove them. Neku has no problem with that, on the other hand, and so he'll be able to keep Shibuya in one piece for a while. Neku sees Joshua the annoying prick first, and Joshua the Composer a far, far second.
True that. Does Neku even see Joshua as the Composer at all? I'm trying to imagine a subordinate Neku in my mind, and it's just not working. But yeah, I like your characterization of the characters, and also how Joshua is more needy than he tries to put across.
Thought I'd mention, I really like your Director's commentary posts too. They generally clarify any questions I have over the chapter and are overall fun to read. Thought I'd mention cause no one else has. Thanks for them. :)
I'd be doing the director's commentary anyway - for a fic like this with a lot of stuff going on in the background, including stuff I can't even comment on yet because it would spoil too much of the overall plot :P For example, when Joshua gets pissed and pushes Neku into the wall in Chapter 2 - he's not pissed over what you probably think he is.
As I tried to show in Chapter 2, Neku DOES see Composer!Josh... after he's already pissed the guy off. Unless the threat of Erasure is hovering over his head, Neku just sees that annoying prick in the pink apron. He doesn't feel any shame about calling Josh out in public, either.
