Backdated-Just after the Colorado Incident

Feb 10, 2008 19:56

It's early morning in Camp Dunwell, the warm orange glow of the sun is just breaking the horizon. Most of the base is still in bed, aside from two people. One of them is David King, the base contractor, who is busy trying to fix the rear fire door of the aircraft hangar. The other person is Captain Chris Redfield, just coming back onto base from ( Read more... )

Beep, beep! Chris's PINpoint has a message on it.

Captain Redfield,

I suppose this is the best way to contact you, as your government probably doesn't take well to travel between worlds. Anyway, my name is Agent Evans with the Multi-Dimensional Exploration Agency from my homeworld, Desai.

We've been having a pest problem that I hear you and a Miss Valentine are more than qualified to deal with.

If you are interested, please meet me at the Bartlett Inn for breakfast at 0900 hours, it's a hotel in the city just south of your base. I hear the waffles are fantastic. And bring Miss Valentine with you, if you can.

Should you not be interested in helping us out, enjoy your breakfast and we'll go our separate ways.

Sincerely,

Agent Evans, Sophie
MDEA

Chris brings up the message function on his PINpoint, scanning the message over and taking a seat at his desk.

Well, he didn't have any other business at hand. He'd never heard of the MDEA, but it couldn't hurt to at least find out who they were, and what their business was. Though he had to admit, he didn't like the thought of "pest control".

Chris sends a short message back in reply saying that he'll be at Bartlett Inn, then picks up his cellphone and dials Jill Valentine.

Ring ring! Ring ring! Crap, where was that damn thing?

Jill got up from her set of push-ups and began to rummage over the contents on the desk to find her cellphone. Finally, she found it, stuffed in the pockets of the jeans she'd worn yesterday.

She flipped it open (without looking who was calling) and, between heavy breaths, answered.

"Yeah?"

"Hey Jill, it's Chris I uh...is this a bad time?" Chris asks curiously. He was hoping he hadn't interrupted anything, lulz.

8:45AM. Redfield and Valentine would be here any minute. Agent Evans finished up her cigarette out in front of the hotel's main door, butted it out, and then headed back inside to her reserved table.

She'd reserved a banquet room entirely for the three of them, as she didn't really want eavesdroppers. It seemed as if the pest problem she was dealing with in Desai was common knowledge in this world, but travel through portals wasn't. Best to keep things between herself and the S.T.A.R.S.

A few moments after Sophie went inside, Jill drove up in her rental car and parked. And she waited for Chris. She didn't quite know what this agent character was planning, but she knew that going in by herself was a Bad Idea.

Chris spots Jill's face as he approaches the door, waving to her with a smile. He stops just short of the front of her car, hands in the pockets of his bomber jacket, and waits on her before he goes inside.

She spots Chris and gets out, shaking out the bunched up sleeves of her jacket. Well, she did make a bit of an attempt to look nice today, even if it is just a blazer over a t-shirt and jeans.

"Well, how've you been?" Jill asked, tucking her thumbs in her pockets, "Got any intel on this person we're meeting?"

Chris shakes his head.

"Nope. All I got was the message I showed you, and I can't turn up either her name or the MDEA on any of the databases."

He moves towards the door, holding it open for her and gesturing her inside with a wave of his arm.

"Deadly Delta Force operatives first."
