Pietro had left London after talking with his father, content to just stay in Wundergore for a few days and relax. He had been contemplating visiting his sister again when he saw Steve Rogers walking through town with two children.

Curiousity got the better of him as he watched one of the kids, his silver hair being the factor that caught Pietro's eye. While it was true that many people in the world had hair so blonde that it appeared silver in their youth, the shade he had... he had only seen it in the bloodline he shared with his father.

And they were in Wundergore. With Captain America. Conclusions raced into his head, and he felt his spine stiffen.

They're after WandaFirst impulse was to flee. To run, grab his sister and take off somewhere safe. But then reality caught up and he remembered hearing in the papers that Steve had been arrested by SHIELD. So why was he out now ( ... )

"Thank you," Steve said, following the pointed finger without turning to look at the source of the suggestion. But a second later the speaker's voice registered in his mind, and he whipped his head around to find Pietro Maximoff standing behind him.

"Pietro," Steve said, evenly, though his eyes betrayed his surprise. He hadn't seen the man in quite awhile, and he had no idea what to expect. "What brings you here?"

It was a stupid question, of course. There was only one person who could bring Pietro Maximoff back to Wundagore Mountain, and it was the same person at whose house Steve was currently staying. But in a crowded marketplace like this, it was better to keep the conversation casual, on the surface.

"This is my home too, you know. I might not have residence, but I was born here just the same." Pietro gave him just that, though he watched the man carefully.

Because yes, it was a stupid question. How often were the twins really ever that far apart from one another, or if so, out of contact with one another? But Pietro would agree to keep the conversation casual. Mainly because with what he's read about Steve, and the fact he still concidered the man an ally, he wouldn't want to bring attention to him.

"Of course," Steve replied. "I wasn't questioning that. I was just asking about your presence here, at the market. Friendly curiosity." It was a partial lie, of course, but it wasn't a bad one, for the sake of keeping the conversation unremarkable.

Out of the corner of his eye, Steve saw the butcher giving them an odd look, and he quickly paid for the beef Pietro had suggested, loading it into the basket Wanda had given him and stepping away from the stall.

"Before you ask, since I know you're going to, you should know that our... 'mutual friend' sent me here. She asked me to shop for dinner."

He purposely didn't explain why he was in Wundagore to begin with. That was a conversation that could wait until they were in a less crowded area. But at least this statement could reassure Pietro that he wasn't there in any dangerous capacity.
