I'm trying out something I haven't done before, combine a few thoughts about an episode with links to stories I've loved based in all or part on that episode. If there's any interest I have a few more written up, and I'd love to see any and all jump in with episode/fiction discussions of their own..

Starsky vs. Hutch is a fascinating episode. It ( Read more... )

As with so many episodes of Starsky and Hutch, the '70s style of writing, disconnected hour long glimpses of their lives without much backstory or explanation was unsatisfying on our original viewing and really demanding more on subsequent watching. I want to know where Kira came from, was she with the department long? When did Starsky start dating her. Why doesn't Hutch respect those boundaries? Because 4 years earlier, they seemed to share or at least not care who was dating whom except for Abby and Helen? Why is Kira different ( ... )

No, The Red Charade isn't online yet.

I agree with you about the questions! There are tons, not even mentioning all the questions that rise up because the episode is out of order like the LTD just poof back from the dead.

i love your thoughts, Dawn, especially the wardrobe at the Pits question.

I have to admit I'm not much for SvH, but you make a great case for it. Thank you for the recs!

Thanks, Baby! It can be a hard episode to watch.

Season four has always had a different feel to it. SvH in particular is just not in line with the guys usual behavior toward each other or the love and respect they have for each other. It is a shame there is no canon explanation for any of it. On the other hand, it leaves us wide open for all sorts of interpretations. I've read so many fics centering on SvH and I still cannot get enough. This past winter I even found the need to write one myself just to get things straight in my mind.
I love your rec list. I want to go read some of those again. I never tire of the possibilities.
I'm grateful the episode ended on the high note that it did. I wonder, too, if the bit in the bar was planned or that they once again were so tuned into each other that it happened naturally as they reunited mind, body, and spirit.

You're right, Susan, season 4 has it's own feel to it. Even in the lighter episodes the guys themselves seem tired and deeper.

I couldn't agree with you more about the fiction that came from SvsH. It's simply a treasure trove! Can you give me the link to your story? I'd love to read it.

http://archiveofourown.org/works/4173900     I wrote this after Nancy and I spent some time back and forth about season four.  I always have had trouble with it. She was helping me see it in new ways. To sort it out i wrote this. It is gen but certainly can be taken as pre slash, too. However it reads to you.
