mad_as_soup's birthday picnic in the Bot Gardens today. Near us this small group of people (a family?) was putting a tuba, a trumpet, and some other small brass instrument we couldn't see from our picnic spot in amongst the flowerbed and taking photos. It was very surreal.

Unfortunately the disability fail does not surprise me, as I've heard about it before, if not in so many words. The suicide scheme only came as a surprise because of the decent plotline they've been giving the gay characters and some of the actors (including not only the one who plays a closeted bully who picks on the gay kid for being gay, but the out lesbian actress who played the fake!suicidal character) making It Gets Better videos.
