This would be the point where I would say it didn't surprise me, but in fact I have reacted to every acquaintance who has come out of a closet with a sort of mild "Huh. Okay." Perhaps I'm just waiting for the point when someone goes back *into* the closet and decides that long-held convictions about liking the same sex are, in fact, wrong. That would definitely surprise me.
