Went in for a review of yesterday's lighting workshop for some practice and learning the board, had lunch with a couple of friends from
1945 (one of whom I hadn't seen since; it was nice to catch up), trekked out to Newtown to drop off a volunteer app. Confusingly beautiful day today. Really, Wellington, it is the end of March, I expect to be needing a good coat right now, not carrying it around. Not that I'm complaining; I'm quite happy to enjoy the warmth.
The Flying Burrito Brothers was pretty good! If dark like Mexican pavilion; what is it with Mexican restaurants being dark and candlelit. (Except that one I went to in Colorado...) (Okay, that one was probably Tex-Mex.) I had mole enchiladas. The mole wasn't as good as some I've had but I enjoyed it.
That was not enough rice for me and I prefer my rice not spicy :(
My sister's chicken quesadillas (because she kind of looked at the menu and was like "WHAT IS ALL THIS"). She was rather intrigued by the pesto.
Foreground: Dad's chicken fajitas. Left: Mom's...something involving shrimp.
My sister and I puzzling over what those five dips for the churros were, because we're used to just chocolate. (They turned out to be, top to bottom, left to right: Mango, caramel, cream, strawberry, and chocolate.) They were kickass churros, though!
At home! Chocolate cake made by an aunt of mine :D (Dad could only find seventeen candles so the big one in the center is meant to represent another ten.)
I waffled in response to my parents' asking me what I wanted for my birthday for long enough that by the time I came up with some ideas it was a wee bit late for online orders to arrive on time and my parents work during the week, so they kind of just gave me A) money to buy a couple of books I wanted (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, seeing as the dub's still not out yet, and Inception: The Shooting Script so I can have a look at a real script for one of my favorite films) off Book Depository (om nom nom free shipping) and B) moar monies to buy myself presents. The joys of shopping and mail are different from a present, man; presents feel freer. But hey, not complaining about money. Shopping time!
(Sadly, one of my first thoughts was renewing my paid/icons. I am pathetic.)
Mildly related: I found a site selling Persona 3 at half price. I've been sort of intrigued by Persona for a while now but I know I'm terrible at finishing console games. (I just never end up sitting down to play them. I've finished loads of handheld games because I can play them in transit.) Should I give it a go anyway? And/or buy a second hand copy of Soul Silver (alas, old cartridge and Poke Walker, I miss you), which I know I'd play (GSC is my favorite gen)?
Last week I
mentioned I was goal setting for the next ten years, thirty things I want to do before age thirty (not quite a bucket list). I still haven't come up with the last five so I might leave them blank in the likely event I come up with something later. I dunno; I'll give it a few days (possibly until after finishing the assignment due on Monday that I haven't started, hurrhurr) thought and then post my list.
