Spent a good chunk of the evening searching for night light bulbs. I know I had several packages. They used to be on the top shelf of my desk, right beside the lamp, until we had to pack up my office for the roof re-framing. I thought they were in one of the boxes here at the house, but I've looked through them and couldn't find any

Of course, once you get the replacements at Walmart, the ones you can't find right now will appear. Murphy will not be denied. :)

That seems to be the pattern. At least night light bulbs are just a few bucks, not like the expensive manual that a friend lost, that was essential to her business (I don't recall the exact figure, but replacing it was enough to put a crimp in the family's budget). She pretty much ransacked the place, trying to find it. She bought another, figuring that would be enough to get the old one to reappear, but no, it was only after she broke the shrink wrap and the replacement could no longer be returned that the old one popped back up, in a place where she swore she'd looked a dozen time. So now she had two copies of a very expensive manual in a very narrow subject and a big hole in that month's budget.

It really makes you believe in malicious entities that flit about the place hiding things, then putting them back out when you've truly given up on finding things.
