Bookbub is no longer worth the price, unless you're already popular and you want to run a discount for the first in a series. What indies need is word of mouth. That means a good cover, good blurb, then a story that appeals to the reader, who will love it enough to share on their social media. One recco from a genuine fan seems to be worth more than expensive ads, with which we are flooded more and more.

Or so I'm hearing from those who spend hours each day watching the marketing trends, and spending mondo bucks on ads, and tracking the performance of those ads.
