I'm not being an old elitist with the OMG I PLAYED FFVII BACK IN 1998 ON MY PLAYSTATION BEFORE WE EVEN HAD ANALOGUE STICKS, but good God.

I like seeing FFVII prettified in things like Advent Children and Crisis Core, but my issue is what the Hell did they do to Cloud?

I used to like Cloud. Now I honestly don't care about him. I LIKE BARRET AND TIFA AND AERIS MORE THAN CLOUD NOW, AND THEY WEREN'T EVEN HIGH ON MY FAVORITES LIST BACK WHEN I FIRST PLAYED THE GAME. I always wished I could kick Cloud off my team so I could fit Yuffie, Vincent, and Red XIII into one team. xD

that being said, I would kill to see Advent Children!Cloud crossdress. that would pretty much make my year.

Ah, happy Cloud... I still don't understand why Square thought it'd be a good idea to screw with his character like that. Okay, one could argue that Cloud from the beginning of the game was just a mask/him emulating Zack and that being insecure/silent/emo is his real self (which makes sense considering his story), but that kind of main character get old really fast. :|

... which is why Zidane was great. :D So your icon makes perfect sense.

Zidane was just so much fun. And even when he had his huge, world- ending bombshell of LOL YOU'RE NOT REALLY WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE he got over it and carried on, full of optimism and virtue as ever. ;W; /sob

I love Cloud, I really do. And I loved Zack, but I think that Cloud is a strong person. I feel like he really should have attempted to move on and grow up. I think he kinda did in the game, but AC, Kingdom Hearts, Dissidia and damn, even Crisis Core which is set before VII seems intent on setting his feelings back to some point around the middle of VII and... stay there. 0o

I never thought about it much, but holy crap, you're right, star. All I've known since AC came out is that I LOATHED the Cloud in that movie. I thought of Cloud as more sarcastic and cranky in FFVII, but he was much more tolerable than he was in AC. I know he was dying and all, but...jeez, he was such an emo jerk. (On that note, what was up with the characterization in that movie? I felt they made nearly everyone a blatant retard.)

To be honest, I wish they'd kept Zack as the main instead of Cloud. I like Zidane too. Square does really well on happy, enjoyable characters when they want to. I'm tired of the guys who walk around like they're constipated or have a headache. I prefer KH-Squall to FF8 Squall, and KH's universe isn't even canon. :(

I... didn't really like him. Which is a shame because I was so excited about the movie. (I mean, I didn't even like Kadaj and co. I spent the entire movie waiting for them to piss off and become Sephiroth.)
I liked Cloud being sarcastic and cranky. Even after you- know- who dies and Cloud finds out that he's really not who he thought he was, in the game he starts to get over it all. It's like AC and that just set him back a huge amount.

Pretty much that they just wanted to make him 'cool' and 'aloof' to make the screaming fangirls and fanboys happy. Who cares about character, eh?

I... I... for some reason hate Squall in KH with the fire of many suns because WHAT THE FUCK? LEON!? AND CUT YOUR DAMN HAIR, YOU LOOK LIKE A MESS. Not enough internal monologue for me, I'm afraid. That's what makes him so funny. 8(

That's cool, Squall seems hard to like in general. I just thought his "nice" act was a bit more tolerable than his FF8 "I've got less character than a brick wall" persona. Me, I don't see "aloof" as auto-cool. Icy and calm like Vincent, maybe. But AC-Cloud--that brought about nerd rage. I like flaws and quirks with my characters, I think it makes them lovable. :<
