I've always been pretty unimpressed with Aizen and I feel like what people are complaining about are things that I've... well, pretty much seen and been complaining about all along.

I'm not complaining about them because they're the same flaws every shounen villain ever has. I think they're a genre convention. Shounen fandom has just been spoiled about villains because they're all creaming their pants over One Piece because its characters on both sides are the second coming of Christ or something I don't even know.

One Piece characters are kind of... special, in their own right. I don't know that it's comparisons to OP chars that makes Aizen look like he's coming up short. On the other hand I really don't like Aizen and I think he's pretty much a hack, so I'm incredibly biased.
