Ooh, this is delightful! I love all the details of the period, and the specific way Javier is filtering everything he sees through his own perspective. I greatly look forward to the continuation of this, but even if that never happens, this is really a delightful surprise by itself. Thank you so much!
1602 is fun to write, because its such a huge playground. My inner history geek is delighted.
On the other hand, I've managed to give the characters horrific backstories, because there were just so many *ways* things could have gone wrong. Werner in the hands of the Inquisition is the worst, but being a farmer's son in *Orkney* was damn near an invitation to starve, if my reading is correct.
Hal from 1602 is noticeably more willing to crack heads (him *and* Robbie*) than Hank from the normal Marvelverse. I wondered where that came from.
Also, I wondered how an orphan boy from the Orkneys made it far enough south to come to the attention of Javier in *Warwick*. There's a lot more to the story (and boy am I having fun twisting Hank's canonical origin) but it will have to wait until after the Xmen First Class ficathon fic is done...
