Oh my God. Check out this story summary I found at A Teaspoon And An Open Mind:

The day I met the Doctor, I realized the dream from the night before had been one of THOSE dreams; the ones which made no sense until everything in them started to happen. *note: i have only had 30 people read this, and i don't mind, but, since it isn't getting the ( Read more... )

"What the hell happened to writing for the sake of writing? To writing because you love it?"

It's dead, dear. It's all dead.

The vanity of some people, lol.

Usually it tends to be the...how do I put this nicely...oh fuck it, the shit writers that go in for that kind of blatant and desperate 'worship me' tactic.

Me? I write DW fic coz I enjoy it, coz I love the characters, and generally despise what 'the man' did to them after '89. I don't need the validation of a bunch of simpering fangirls. Reviews are nice, yes, but I get more warm fuzzies from the musings of my beta to be honest :p.

Don't even bother trying to be nice, because you hit the nail on the head. :D

And isn't all what you said the point of being a fanfic writer? Not to garner adolation, but to play in someone else's sandbox because you love it there so much? I mean, hell, sometimes I wish my stories got more attention to be sure, but I'm just glad that those people who have read them, seem to like them.

It just really gets my goat when authors actively beg for reviews, say they won't post more until they get a certain number of reviews, etc etc etc. What the hell happened to writing for the sake of writing? To writing because you love it?

And that, my darling, is the attitude that separates the good writers from the bad. Cause, effect -- since you seemed to be confused. ^^ (Yes, I am mocking you a little, but it's meant with love and humor.)

This sort of people drives me batty, too. I think they drive all Serious Fangirls bat-shit crazy.
