Freaking cool indeed! After some hit and miss eps this season, I just loved the latest two. It was timely "lightness" for me too given the past few days. They really know their fans and know which buttons to push, scenes and kisses to give ;) I enjoyed Ep 12 more for some reason -- maybe it was to see some teeny backstory, all the Jack on Jack moments (hee for gay!), the WWII setting (I've a weakness for historical war romances), Ianto developing a spine in his face-off with Owen, or just a slightly more believable plot - as far as wacky TW plots go - compared to the Ep 13 rift, which I never really got back in Doctor Who. Though the ending with the Tardis? Priceless.
On that note, as a Heroes fan, didn't you also feel some strange deja vu what with the samurai warrior, Tosh speaking about destiny to her mom in Japanese, and the scary monster at the end?
PS - You're one of the few on my flist who posts about Torchwood. Yay you!
With TW, I have this bad habit of yelling "NO WAY" and giggling hysterically, which is totally the show's charm. I personally loved ep13, just for the non-stop action, but 12 was very cool! Can't believe how angry and strange they are making Owen and tehn he cried... Bwah! Poor baby!
Re the heroes: Hadn't really thought about it, but now you mention it, maybe the writers follow that series too! :)

The time rift storyline was very Dr Who, but I didnt expect the Tardis!!!
After seeing the spoilery pics, I'm glad that Rhys didnt die, his butt slapping scene was too funny! And I love that they had him cleaning the oven!
I'm also amazed at how they managed to squash so much into one episode. It also had my emotions all over the place! The tension filled scenes with Jack and Owen, then Rhys dying *sniff* and Gwen freaking out, then the almost comedic scene of Abadon trying to kill Jack and Jack shouting and screaming!
mcalex says it's coming back around August... can't wait!!
Sorry for butting in (hee), but thanks for reminding me about all those naked and domestic Rhys scenes. I adore the character! What a crazy plot device they have going, in that no one really dies, from Jack to poor Suzie.
Wasn't it just made of *so much awesome*?! Despite a slightly predictable plot, there was much OMG. Ianto's little brokeback!moment with Jack's coat? Killed me *g*

With characters able to be brought back to life I guess it makes the show less predictable? More crazy?
