What's happening in the US is frightening. What's happening here is also scary, with the folly of Brexit and all that could follow. But here I don't feel as vulnerable as I would in the US or Russia. Of course, that could well change.

If nothing else this last year or so proves that all the progress we thought we'd made as humans and as humanitarians can never, ever be taken for granted. It has to be guarded and fought for constantly.
