Sounds like too much CYA to be particularly effective at doing anything. I mean, hell if they wouldn't even pull out a splinter it makes you wonder what will they do? Hope the boy is ok and not in too much pain. Having had kindney stones I sympathize with any pain "down there".
He seems to be feeling better. Dr. Drake said "Let your pain be your guide" as far as what he can and can't do. So he's not on any restrictions now, but he needs to pay attention if his body tells him STOP NOW!
Did your GP say anything about the possibility of Apendicitis? Same area of the body as a hernia with on again off again pain and can sometimes display a "lump" as well. Just something to be aware of.
The lump is actually inside his scrotum, and the suspected "hernia" was down deep in the inguinal cavity area, behind his scrotum, on the floor of his abdominal wall. They never thought it could be his appendix, because of the very obvious lump in his scrotum and where the pain was. We'll be getting the ultrasound sometime soon, so we'll see what they say.
Epididymitis is an inflammation of the coiled tube (epididymis) at the back of the testicle that stores and carries sperm. Pain and swelling are the most common signs and symptoms. Males of any age can get epididymitis, but it's most common in men between the ages of 19 and 35.
Epididymitis is most often caused by a bacterial infection or by a sexually transmitted disease (STD) such as gonorrhea or chlamydia. In some cases, the testicle may also become inflamed - a condition called orchitis.
He didn't think it was an inflammation in the tube, but a fluid (lymph) buildup in the fibrous membranes around those tubes and his testicle. He wears compression shorts like, ALL the time, maybe that has something to do with it. The doctor recommended wearing boxers for a while.
Testicular torsion is something I'm familiar with. I did a few runs on those as a medic and my brother-in-law had it once. They scream litte girls when that happens.
I've not had a problem with Carenow when it comes to basic respiratory infections. They give anti-biotic and steroid shots so you can feel better by the next day. Anything else is best done through the ER or reuglar doc. I've not had any luck with other stuff either with them.
