Our older son turns 14 tomorrow and, as I think about it, is a pretty remarkable age to be. I have good memories of 14, but when I think about my son having similar experiences or the kinds of "firsts" I had at that age I get a little freaked out

16 was my turning age, but it was partly due to moving that summer and everything. I think you and your wife are going the right thing talking about those typical with him and being open with him about it.
It will be interesting to hear what your parents have to say about there thoughts when you were 14 years old. I always wonder if my parents really know what I did when I was a kid.
