The two that pop into my head immediately are "Long December" by Counting Crows and "Aside" by the Weakerthans. "Aside" would make a kickass opener (Long December, not so much).

"You're So Yesterday" - Marvelous 3
"Bright Lights" - Matchbox Twenty
"Chapter One" - Lifehouse
"The End Has Only Begun" - Lifehouse
"Fallen Angel" - Poison
"Savannah" - Relient K
"Question" - Old 97s
"Hello New Day" - RCPM
"Start The Day Early" - Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers

That's all I have to suggest...right now.

I'm not sure what I'd open with. Probably Butch or Roger, but that's cheating because those songs are already first tracks.

Oh, duh...

My first track would be "New Sensation" by INXS.

"New Feeling" by Talking Heads. Specifically the live version, which Byrne introduced by intoning "This song is called 'New Feeling.' That's what it's about," before the song begins. Not sure about it's potentially as an opening track, but it could work.

(Plus, I'm still liking "New Morning" by Bob Dylan.)

Kate York - Begin You
Semisonic - Closing Time ("Every new beginning starts...")
Raphael Saadiq - Keep Marchin'

Starter...um..."In the Beginning" by Motley Crue? ;)

Gotta add one that just popped on the MP3 Player and seems appropriate: Mary J. Blige "No More Drama"

Donna and I heard a Raphael Saadiq song the other day that we loved. Or, rather, we saw a video. It was great.

I like the entire Raphael Saadiq album that was released in 2008. I think it was in my Top 25 (but that was a whole year ago so my memory may be sketchy). :)

Definitely worth looking into.
