NaNo 09

Oct 28, 2009 08:30

Only three days until NaNoWriMo, and I need to decide what to do this year.

1. Write a shiny new novel which will sit in a drawer for the next year.

2. Write 50,000 more words on last year's NaNo novel.

3. Focus on the time rather than the word count - spend a solid two hours a night working on my collection of stories.

VOTE VOTE VOTE.

Ooh, being unemployed and all, it might be a good year to finally try this, cos I've always quite fancied it.
What was your last year's one about?

Woop woop! I'm here, friend me if you like.

Last year's attempt was Little Dead Boys: Kit goes to the suburbs to sort out her relationship with Jen and her art project, but there she gets tangled up in the mystery of a decades-old child killer. Jen needs to figure out what she's doing with her life, her girlfriend, and her lover - but soon the decision will be made for her.

DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUN!

That sounds much better than anything I could possibly come up with, mine will no doubt end up 50,000 words of plotless rambling, ah well!

I personally would write a new one to put in the bank. You never know what will happen in the future, but if you've got stuff to edit, you can still churn out things that your agents/publishers demand.

I can churn out more shit any time. As you say: whole depths of schlock still to be plumbed :)

i'm all for a shiny novel! that's what i am going for too, kind of. i've had this idea for a book/novel since i was fifteen (which might also indicate it's not such a good idea, but i'll have to give it a shot - otherwise it will haunt me forever. FOREVER!!), but i've only ever managed to write a couple of pages of it. so i thought i'd take this opportunity to finally force it out of my system and see what gives ( ... )

thanks - and i KNOW! but i'm on a much-needed holiday, and i've been writing in notebooks and bits of paper, which makes updating my word count extremely difficult. i'll get a grip soon, or at least when i get back home. right now escaping normal life seems more important. :)

I've got a tonne of ideas in a file on my computer & I've been thinking which one to do... I don't know if I'll even get around to it seeing as I am fantastic at procrastinating & never actually doing anything, plus I have uni work to hand in. But we'll see. I'll add you. :)

Ugh, not yet. I've had essays & case studies to do... I'm such a procrastinator.
