Notes: Set during an AU Season Three, follows Torment.
Summary: Buffy finally gives in to what she wants.
They’re walking home from a night of slaying and there’s a definite chill in the air signaling that winter’s just around the corner. Faith is telling her a story about the group of friends that they had in LA before they were both Slayers. And Buffy can’t help but feel a bit sad over the life that she once lived. She misses the days when she’d call Faith first thing in the morning and ask her what she’d be wearing for school that day. The days when they’d gossip over what happened at school like it was the most important thing in their lives. The days when she could go over to Faith’s house and just sit beside her and watch T.V. when her parents were fighting.
Buffy suddenly stops walking as she looks over at Faith and she realizes suddenly that she’s always loved Faith. She just didn’t realize it, even if that does sound like the lamest thing she’s ever thought. Faith’s always been there for her and Buffy can finally realize where Faith was coming from. Where her anger was coming from. One day they were close and the next Buffy had pushed her away.
“Come on B, it’s cold out and the gang’s waiting for us at the Bronze.”
“They can wait.”
“What is your problem?” Faith asks as she turns to face Buffy.
“Nothing,” Buffy states as she wraps her arms around Faith.
“What game are you playing at?” Faith asks, suddenly wary of Buffy.
“None.”
Buffy silences Faith by kissing her and even though it’s not a kiss that’ll stop the earth from turning, it’s still a sweet kiss that makes her feel as if she’s been waiting forever for this moment. Its Faith who breaks the kiss and gives Buffy a weird look as if Buffy’s just was hit in the head by something.
“Buffy, you don’t have to do this.”
“I know.”
“Seriously, I’m over what happened back in LA.”
“You’re so stupid Faith, I am doing this because I want to.”
Buffy smiles up at Faith as she sees the confusion written on the brunette’s face. She leans in again and kisses Faith once more; this time the kiss is a bit more passionate and less sweet. Buffy’s not concerned about how Faith’s going to react so she’s not holding back.
When they break apart, Faith’s flushed and her lips are swollen. The confusion has been erased by Buffy’s kisses and Buffy smiles at her.
“Do you still want to go to the Bronze?” Buffy asks.
“Yeah, if only to get out of this cold,” Faith replies as Buffy laughs before linking her arm into Faith’s.
