Decay.Summary: Buffy deals with the fallout.
Sunnydale isn’t a very big town and Buffy wonders if Faith has come to the Bronze to torment her. After all, she knows that Faith’s defected over to the Mayor’s side of things, but there’s not enough proof that she’s done anything wrong. Instead she’s just pulled away from Buffy and the others after the accidental killing of the deputy mayor. And like Giles and Angel keep telling her, there’s no proof that Faith is doing anything other than pulling back because of what she’s done.
Buffy can’t tell them that she knows it’s more than Faith pulling back because the brunette Slayer is stalking her, almost similar to what Angelus did last year. That would mean admitting to them that she had a relationship with Faith that went beyond being Slayers and friends. That would mean admitting to them that Faith and her were lovers for a week or two before Faith staked the deputy mayor. That would mean admitting to them how losing Faith feels much worse than losing Angel ever did.
The blonde sighs as Faith moves to the dance floor, dancing with every single guy, the lights flashing on her lips that are wet and shiny from the lip-gloss that she’s wearing. The same lip gloss that she stole from Buffy’s bedroom the night before. Faith flashes a smirk in Buffy’s direction, causing Buffy to grind her teeth. She abruptly stands up and stalks out to the alleyway behind the Bronze without saying a word to her friends. It’s not as if they’d understand what she’s feeling right now.
A minute later, Faith comes out of the door with some random guy, laughing as the guy paws at her. Buffy doesn’t believe that Faith didn’t know that she was out here. She knows it’s all part of the game that Faith is playing to mess with Buffy’s head. After a few moments of passionate kissing and touching with the guy, Faith acts as if she’s suddenly noticed Buffy standing in the shadows glaring at her. They both know its part of the show that Faith’s putting on for her. Faith sends the guy back into the nightclub before she comes to stand in front of Buffy.
“Yeah?” Faith defensively acts.
“Having fun?”
“I could ask you the same thing, I didn’t know you were into watching.”
Buffy doesn’t reply to the taunt, instead she grabs Faith and pushes her up against the wall. She shuts up the comment that Faith is about to make by kissing her. The kiss is full of their newfound aggression to one another and the pent-up lust that both had been feeling. When they pull back, Buffy’s lips are bruised and swollen and she’s pleased to see that the lip-gloss that Faith was wearing has been kissed off.
“Stay away from me Faith.”
“Fine by me,” Faith replies with a pout.
“I’m serious.”
“Sure you are,” Faith responds with a pout as she pushes Buffy away, “I know I am not good enough for you, after all I am not your precious vampire with a soul.”
Before Buffy can respond, Faith’s walked out of the alleyway leaving her alone and frustrated once again. She wonders if Faith will stay away and what she’ll do if Faith doesn’t.
