Summary: It’s a new feeling for Buffy to be able to trust Faith and she’s not quite sure if she trusts that feeling.
Buffy doesn’t know what to think ever since Faith’s come back to Sunnydale. Part of her wants to send Faith away because she’s still afraid that Faith is going to cause trouble. Another part of her wants to find a nice secluded place away from prying eyes where she can do everything to Faith that she’s ever wanted to but was too afraid to her. And another part of her actually trusts Faith, that part sees the changes in the other Slayer. It’s a new feeling for Buffy to be able to trust Faith and she’s still not quite sure if she trusts that feeling.
People change and can become good; she knows that for a fact. After all, both Angel and Willow have had their weak moments and have done great good. It’s just with Faith; Buffy has a hard time accepting that fact. Perhaps it’s the way that Faith’s eyes follow her around the room. Or the way that Faith always looks like a predator whenever Buffy enters the room. There are some things that just haven’t changed and Buffy worries about will happen when Faith doesn’t get her way again.
Buffy might want Faith more than she’ll ever admit, but the truth of the matter is that she refuses to accept that she wants Faith. Wanting Faith means giving into Faith and Buffy just can’t do that. She might realize on a completely rational and logical level that Faith has changed and that she’s sincere about being a white hat now. But on a purely emotional level, Buffy’s afraid of letting go around Faith because she’s afraid that Faith might still be dangerous.
