Title: Always Watching

Summary: Faith is always watching Buffy.
It seemed typical of Faith’s luck that she fell hard for the one person that she couldn’t have. For the one person who would never return her feelings, and for the one person who would never want her. As she watches the sunshine on Buffy’s blonde hair, she feels tortured as Buffy flirts with some guy who means nothing to Buffy, because her heart really belongs to Angel. Yet the blonde still plays with her hair as she coyly smiles and blushes while Faith would do just about anything to be on the receiving end. Instead it’s some clueless jock that doesn’t seem to get that Buffy's flirting with him. As the guy walks off, and Buffy turns to Faith and shrugs her shoulder, Faith laughs and makes a dumb comment so that Buffy won’t suspect the truth of Faith’s feelings. Buffy falls for it and doesn’t realize that Faith’s always watching her and hoping that one day Buffy would turn to her and do more than just pout about how some guy blew her off.

Summary: Buffy realizes that she’ll always be alone.
The news that Faith had turned to the Mayor hits Buffy hard and she’s left with doubts at Faith’s betrayal. The blonde Slayer can’t help but wonder what it is about her that causes all of her lovers to turn evil. First Angel and now Faith, at least with Angel she can rationalize that it was because of a curse that they broke when they slept together. And Faith’s betrayal hits her even harder than Angel turning into Angelus ever did because she had thought that the brunette was different than everyone else in her life. Buffy had believed that their shared destiny had united them in a way that was special, that went beyond what she had shared with Angel. But the mocking smirk just reminds Buffy that no matter what sweet words that Faith had whispered to her when they were locked in one another’s arms in the throws of passion had meant nothing. When it comes down to it, Buffy will always be alone.

Summary: Faith is nervous about returning to Sunnydale.
As Willow silently drives, all Faith can think is that she’s finally coming home. She can’t help but think of Buffy and the thought of seeing the blonde Slayer again twists her stomach into knots. Buffy terrifies Faith because she’s afraid of seeing the woman that she turned from because of jealousy and anger. It seems ironic that it was Angel who had helped her to find her way again since he had been the cause of her jealousy and anger in the first place. At the time, Faith hadn’t been able to understand the love that Buffy and Angel shared, all she could see was Angel standing in her way. She still doesn’t understand it but she’s learned to accept it. Now all Faith has to do is to show Buffy that she’s changed and that she’s deserving of a second chance both as a Slayer and perhaps as something more. Faith desperately craves Buffy and she can only hope that the blonde will finally see something in her besides the darkness.
