Faith collapsed on the edge of the bathtub as she cradled her head in her hands. Somehow she had just managed to fool Buffy into believing that she could careless that she had killed a man. However, when she was alone, Faith felt the enormity of her act pressing down on her. She cared that she had killed a man, someone that she was supposed to protect and not cause harm to. The moment of the stake going through his heart kept repeating in her mind over and over again, a never-ending loop of her mistake. It wasn’t something that she could casually shrug off, even if that’s what she had acted like in front of Buffy. Yet, she had to be practical about it, nothing could be done to reverse what she did, no matter how guilty or remorseful she felt about it. Faith saw the act of killing a man in two different lenses, one of guilt and one of practicality. She felt horrible for what she did, but she knew that she couldn’t dwell on it, if she did she’d never be able to slay another vampire again.
