Yellow Venetian Sleeves: Done!

Dec 28, 2012 16:24

I am so glad to be done with these sleeves. They took forever! Not because they were hard, but because I have a cold and everything I do feels like I'm doing it in molasses. Ugh, slow slow slow every stitch was an effort. Plus, that whole Christmastime thingamajig. I'm feeling better now and have already moved on to the main bodice, but wanted to ( Read more... )

They are SO beautiful!! And I LOVE the way you talked about the puffs!

" I don't want to ever think about my puffs not puffing. They should puff and stay puffed with no puffing attention from me at all."

That's right, damn it!

I know, right? In my little profile pic here you can see my unpuffed puffs and it made me crazy. (My husband, who took the pictures at a ren faire, had no idea it was his job to make sure every little inch of my costume was perfectly placed before clicking the shutter. Some men!) Since then I have just made fake ones and it works out quite well! My entire goal with costuming is to never think about the costume, other than "Damn! I look amazing! From all angles! All the time!" I hate fussing and worrying and hoping stuff isn't untucked and twisted around or falling apart. I've had enough of that over the years!

...and thanks for the compliments, Hot Mama!

Thanks! I still have loads to do, but I'll feel better this weekend getting the bodice and overskirt done. Then at least I know I'll be okay, even if it isn't completely finished to my lofty goals by Twelfth Night.

Likewise! I'm really looking forward to it! This will be my first ever SCA event, and I'm happy to know some awesome folks who will be there that we can hang out with. Otherwise my husband and I will be standing around like dopes not knowing what to do.

Plus, I'm DYING to see your gown in person. All that handmade trim! *swoon*
