Using my DS game I whipped up dinner just now. I made the Balsamic Vinegar Salad with Salmon and Avocado again, and I also made something new, Goya Champloo. I followed all the steps and the goya champloo would have been really yummy.... if it didn't have goya in it. :P YUCK. Goya is one thing that is definitely not suitable for human consumption. Yeah, goya's pretty heinous. It's really kind of a shame, I think - I'm really intrigued by so many other aspects of Okinawan culture and history, but their food.... not so much.

I used to live in Okinawa and my host mom would sometimes soak chopped goya in sugar water before cooking it to make it less bitter. You might want to give it a try! I just ate goya for dinner tonight actually.

I realized I never replied to your last comment so I will now:

I guess i live on the other side of the station (the side with Toys R Us, Yamada Denki, etc.). I have never ventured over to your side...it seems like the rich side and it scares me, hahah.

Also, Hibiki-san is still alive and just as dumb as ever! I just hung out with him like 3 days in a row. We also talked about you and he says he wants to hang out some time.

And your visa expires on my birthday! That's the best birthday present I could ever ask for.

Interesting tip regarding the sugar water, but yeah, I don't think I'll be going anywhere near goya for a while at least. :P

The Aurora Mall has a few stores that are well out of my budget, but other than that there's not too much richness that I can see around here. ;D I wanna meet you guys too! My social calendar is pretty much empty, so, uh, invite me out sometime. :D My keitai address is iceonbed at t dot vodafone dot ne dot jp!

Goya is "bitter melon" in Chinese.

I hates it. Blah.

You can pay an additional fee to have your new passport expidited. I think it still takes a few weeks (2?), but that's better than the 4-6 weeks the traditional process takes.

Do you know of any good local-ish websites for booking flights?
