Fai only knew so much about the person he was up again and by the looks of things he wasn't one you wanted to really go up against if given the choice. He kept to his side of the ring, pole in hand and once again bow and arrow placed firmly on his back. He didn't need them the first time, but he couldn't guess if he would this time around.
Fai did keep a quiet eye for a moment, before calmly placing the pole between his shoulders, his smile as usual on his face.
"I'd like to wish you luck with this battle today and I hope that the best man does win."
Much like Fai, Sephiroth only knew what he had seen and overheard about the young man before him. The cat-like eyes silently assessed what he saw of the man and the weapons he held. That this would be trickier than the last match was already obvious to him. One, he had no desire to harm the other man before him more than necessary to win the bout, and Two, he had noted silently Fai's ability to use magic of a sort he wasn't familiar with.
He accepted the words with a respectful nod as he drew Masamune from its sheath on his back. He had already resolved that he would not be using the cutting edge of the sword in this match; while he was certain he could easily keep from killing the young man, it would be too easy for an unforeseen accident to occur and cause him to be harmed more than he cared for. Thus he situated the hilt within his hand so that when used, it would be the flat of the blade which hit the man not the edge

With the pole firmly in his grip, Fai knew there wasn't much left to do except start and possibly lose given the circumstances. But he would never know until he tried and Kurogane wasn't here to yell at him to hurry up. He didn't know how to start, that was for certain, but he knew one thing he could do for certain and that was to keep his feet moving toward the side, until he could start to think of a useful method he could for fighting without the use of magic.
Taking a few steps to the left, Fai placed the pole to his side for a moment, before placing it in both of his hands. He was ready, or as ready as the man could be as he went for him head on. He was going to pay as much attention to this fight as he did to the one previous, hoping that in turn he could learn from all of this in the end.

And so Pluto was there, waiting for her opponent in the shadows of the arena. "Leon". Whoever he was, she wouldn't go easy on him.
As her turn to bout came, however, Pluto found herself standing in the arena, alone. No opponent. Minutes passed, slowly, before she felt someone tap her shoulder and whisper in her ear.
"...Forfeit by no-show...?"
Pluto couldn't help but be surprised as she was ushered away amid the groans and boos of a crowd that had expected a show. She had just practically won by default...somehow, she had to wonder.
Zell had to admit: he was pretty disappointed by the no-show. After all, Leon was his friend and he'd seen him in action in the last round-- but this Pluto lady kept catching his eye, too. It was driving him crazy, this sense that he knew her from somewhere. But he couldn't possibly.
Regardless, his curiosity got the best of him and he found himself nudging through the crowd to go meet her again. Maybe conversing would have a little more luck this time.
"I didn't think anyone could poker face better than Leon! Maybe you out-glarin' him scared him off," he joked. 'Cause really, his train of thought was nowhere near Pluto's.
Seifer entered the stadium floor, gunblade in hand. He'd watched his opponent's previous match and had genuinely been impressed with his skill. He'd have to give it his all in this match if he wanted to come out victorious.
"So, you're Kain, huh?" The question came out cocky, and the smirk on Siefer's face could cause sunflowers to wilt. "This should be over quickly."
The moment the bell rung, he was off and closing the distance between the two in quick strides. Once within striking distance, Seifer brought his weapon to strike in an elegant, sweeping arc.
Just like Seifer, Kain carried himself with an air of total confidence as he approached. Although instead of smirking, he had a stern expression on his face.
"Very quickly..." Kain eyed his opponent, taking in the unusual design of his weapon. It was nothing like the swords of his world. It seemed he may have found a worthy challenge. "...because I'll be the victor."
He sprang into motion, bringing his lance up to block Seifer's initial attack, countering with a swift thrust of his own weapon.
Seifer's eyes widened slightly as the pommel of the lance slid across his weapon, very narrowly avoiding taking a direct hit from its blade. Pulling the weapon's trigger, he used the explosive force of the vibration to push off of the weapon and create a distance between them, only momentarily. If Seifer wanted to win, he had to ensure that the minimum distance only would be allowed between these two. While both weapons were suited for melee, Kain's was surely superior when fighting from afar.
He dove right back into the fray with a flurry of spinning attacks, spending a round every time he connected a blow.

As soon as Lilisette had made it to the Underdome and checked who she was up against, she felt her heart drop from her chest. It was the worst case scenario. Already she had been planning on foregoing her daggers against anyone but Zack, Kain, or Sephiroth--they all seemed durable enough to take some hits--so that she wouldn't cause too much harm to a friend. But as she looked up at the list and saw she was matched up against Zell, she felt a familiar pain spread through her
( ... )
When Seifer saw Lilisette in the audience just prior to Zell's match, his eyes narrowed and he made his way to her with fire in his eyes. He couldn't believe the sight before him. Choosing not to cause a scene, however, he opted instead to sit next to her. After a moment of false approval, he clicked his tongue. "Zell won't appreciate this if he finds out."
Out of everyone there, Seifer was the only one who knew enough of her fight with the birds to see through her disguise. In truth she wasn't at her best, but her arm wasn't wounded as badly as she bandaged it to appear. Still, even if Zell hated her for this, it was better than having to hurt him. Even in a game.
"I can't hurt him," she said simply, not even turning to look at Seifer. "I can't even think of it."
