Well, I don't know if it's worth it yet, since I'm not really able to wear cool earrings for like...six more weeks.
As for pain, I kept asking everyone if it hurt. It felt like a really hard pinch, as people tell you. It didn't make me cry, but it made me grab my mom's hand and go OW ow ow. It was kind of like having a shot.
But the pain goes away fast and there's no bleeding.

Had you been wearing clip-ons before? Or did I just imagine up earrings in your ears during sPeEcH?

I don't like clip-ons because they hurt, but I do have a whole bunch of vintage screw-on earrings which don't hurt. I like those. I'll probably still wear them even with my ears pierced.
Anyway, I don't recall ever wearing any earrings for speech, only necklaces and rings, etc. But after the rounds were over, I would change into normal clothes, and sometimes wear earrings. So maybe you weren't totally imagining things.
