A friend of mine from second year Photography has to write a paper about Into the Wild, in which he would like to refer to Thoreau's Walden, but unfortunately isn't too good in reading the English language. So I offered to translate and summarize a few chapters of his choice.

Now see I have the exact opposite opinion of Thoreau. But that might be because I read him when I was very young (10 years) and learned about him in historical context. His views make more sense when you take them into context with his life and what was going on around him at that time.

I loved INTO THE WILD also though. Talk about leaving an impression long after it's gone.

I loved Into the Wild too, that doesn't stop me from thinking Thoreau was a total hipster douchebag. And it says right there in the first chapter everything you need to know about his life and the economic state at the time, I still think that entire book is just pure mind-numbing bullshit.
