No, see, he's already rotten here. Note that he only gives Tony a brief hug, doesn't do much to comfort him, and doesn't teach Tony to tie the tie even though he knows that's part of the problem and Tony really needs a father figure right then.

(See, in my head, and in this fic,Tony was in the car when it crashed, and Obadiah caused the accident, intending to kill all three of them. Obie's pure evil here.)
