Re-Generation Who convention

Mar 21, 2016 11:43

So I went to two out of the three days of this con. It was very nice, well run from my point of view. A small crowd (this is only the second year for the con), which really helped with the atmosphere.

I don't have photos to post since I'm at work. (but I really didn't take many photos anyway)

got long, so I put it under a cut )

Sounds like you had a very nice Convention time :D I mean, I don't even know most of the people you are talking about as I've never really seen Classic!Who, but it's always nice to hear stories, especially behind the scenes things and such, and it does sound like a lot was going on...

At most COns I was the panels end around 6 pm and then there is evening party from 8 pm on. I never was at a con that had panels for this long :D SOunds awesome, though!

These fan run cons go all day and half the night!

At any given time there are 3 or 4 panels to choose from to attend, so it sucks when two really cool panels are scheduled at the same time!

Actor panels are fun, but I love the panels where it's just a group of fans discussing aspects of the show...

If I don't go to Gallifrey One in 2017 I'm seriously thinking of going to Regeneration Who instead. I like a small convention! (I mostly go to Gally because it's in California in February...yes it's a great event but I'm ready for a change.)

This sounds really nice. I wish I could have been at Peter Davison's talk about the 5-ish Doctors Reboot because I missed it when he talked about it at Gally.

I loved Gally the three times I went to it. California in February is always tempting! But the airfare and hotel in addition to the usual con expenses make it a very costly event.

This one, although small, was very enjoyable. I don't know the numbers compared to last years inaugural year, but it was a nice sized crowd.

I bought my ticket for this year Regeneration Who last June. I'm guessing next years will go on sale around the same time. I won't be getting a VIP ticket, though. (even though the VIP t shirt I got is really nice. LOL!).

I've gone to Gally 5 years in a row, and I'm really thinking a year off would make me appreciate it more when I go again. I always enjoy it, of course. But this year my favorite memory was going to Santa Monica the Wednesday before the con.

Regeneration Who would still involve train and/or airfare and hotel for me, but it would still be less expensive than Gally. Much to think about, and I have until whatever day in April the Gally tickets go on sale to decide. Last year they sold out in under 2 minutes! It was so stressful!

I'd like to get back to Gally one year, but don't know if it will happen. I strongly suspect I may be going to Harry Potter world in Orlando with my sister next year, so I'd like to keep a lot of my 'entertainment' funds set aside for that.

I know! It's amazing how quickly Gally sells out!
