This makes me sad...

Barnes and Noble closing 30% of stores over next 10 years

I still do not own or want a tablet of any kind. I am a dinosaur who loves turning real pages and looking at the stacks and stacks of books in my house. I love browsing in bookstores...it's a GREAT way to find a new treasure.

I don't want to know how many unread books there are in my house just waiting for me to pick up. I can't even begin to consider getting a tablet until those are all read.

I do have nook downloaded on my laptop, and have books there, but they haven't been read yet (I always forget they are there because I can't see them). I do read ebooks in PDF format, which I like.

But nothing compares to the feeling of an actual book in my hands.

I use both hard-copy books and a tablet (GREAT for traveling!) but I specifically chose to get a nook rather than kindle so I'd be supporting a brick-and-mortar store. I really hope the Boston B&N doesn't disappear!

I'm not much of a traveler, so I can't play than angle. Plus I still find it no big deal to toss a paperback in when I do travel. (I really don't read much when I go away anyway).

Given that I do 99.9999999% of my reading at home on my sofa (or bed), a book will always be my preference.

This is true. But I'm going to hold out as long as I can! LOL!

Awwwwww... this is sad :( I mean, there is no such thing as Barnes and Noble here, but I think with all the ebooks and ebook readers coming more and more people will use that possibilities instead of really reading a book... which is sad too!

I guess I'm just not good with change! It took me a LONG time just to get a cell phone. A lifelong of reading actual books....makes it difficult to make the transition to some kind of device...

I honestly don't think that ereaders are the only reason why bookstores are closing,at least I don't see it here in germany. We have lots of bookstores here and from what I can see, they are doing good.
I have a Kindle and I love it to bits and pieces but I still like to go to stores and search for new things to read (well, download later) so I kind of still live in both worlds,so to speak ;)

I guess I'm just old fashioned and don't have to have the latest and greates in technology when the 'old fashioned' way still works for me! LOL!

I have a Kindle and I love it, but there's something about going to a bookstore and just browsing through the shelves, because you never know what treasure you might find. So this makes me sad :(

I'm sure I'd love a tablet device if I had one, but I can't justify the expense when there are at least 100 (I'm guessing) unread books in my house that I need to get to.

People don't seem to actually go out and shop like then used to anymore, that's what the real problem is here, IMHO.

The internet has made everyone lazy. LOL!

I'm with you. I really like my Kindle because right now my life is pretty mobile, but I hope someday it settles down and I can get all my books out of boxes in my parents' basement.

This is me. We live overseas right now and do a ton of traveling and the baggage limits on the flights over here are extremely restrictive - so for me the Kindle is the perfect answer. I'm sure once we're settled back in the States I'll break out the books again but I'll probably always travel with my Kindle from now on.
