This is the new preview meant to air today during the Superbowl. And while it's all action-y and good-fun looking there's just something about it that continues to bother me. It just doesn't feel right. And yes, I've read the huge plot spoilers so I have a good idea of what's going on but that's not what I mean, the movie as a whole just doesn't

I don't like the ideal of it either, but I may watch it like you said to give it a chance. Maybe if I look at it as just another sci-fic movie and not comparing it to the other star treks it will be better.

I think that's the key right there - comparing it to the other Trek films and whatnot. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those movies that will probably be quite good but won't fall under the same roof as the other Trek movies and as long as they're kept separate like that, it'll be alright.

I liked the trailer, though it looked really good - for something other than Star Trek but I just dunno -.-

Yeah, it's just the fact it has the Star Trek name. Course, the whole point is to revitalize the franchise which can mean something different. I would imagine they'd want or at least like old fan support too. Guess we can't know til it comes out.
