Steampunk and Superheroes - why here, why now?

I've noticed over the past year or so the rush of readers to both the superhero genre and the steampunk genre - not that the two haven't been around for decades, but the surge to the forefront of the media is somewhat interesting. 4 days. You KNOW she's alive, but WOW what a tease that next week on castle was.

And I so agree with you on why Steampunk is becoming so popular.

Civility...I don't know much about the subculture, but of the three steampunk books I've read, one was set in Victorian England (The Difference Engine), Renaissance Florence (Pasquale's Angel), and an unpleasant imaginary and uncivil city (Perdido Street Station). Then again, they may not be completely representative of the genre. I've just started reading it--my intro was Girl Genius.
