Guess what we just got as assigned reading in English class today?

...

Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried.

*air-punch of victory*

I am filled with a combo of trepidation, glee, and also faint amusement at my classmates who, knowing that I've read this book and have preached about it like some kind of Vietnam-based bible, keep coming up and asking me ( Read more... )

school, literature, soldiers

I hope to live up to these great expectations! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Really, I blame you for all of this. You're the one who got me interested in the book in the first place. *beams*

Still up for phone raves tomorrow? I'm free pretty much all day after noon, so let me know what timing works for you.

I am feeling like a lucky thing at the moment. :D I'll let you know how it goes.

Also, re: phone raves tomorrow -- do let me know what time works for ya. I'll have to wait a week or two for three-way calling, 'cuz my dad's out of town and is the primary phone-wrangler 'round these here parts, and the only one who can recalibrate our idiot home phones that NEVER DO WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO ZOMG. (I tried three-way-calling some peeps the other day as an experiment, and my line was being moronic. *curses it* But it shall be remedied in the future.)

Well, shite.

Sammy, love, I probably won't be able to call you for a while. I talked to my mom about it and she kind of went off on a yell-rant about the expenses of calling overseas. Apparently that unlimited long-distance we've got only applies within the United States. She says I can still call, just not very often at all. *woe* I am NOT happy.

However, there is a bright spot of hope in this failiciousness. You have a webcam, you said? So do I. granted, I'm on SightSpeed rather than Skype, and I'm not sure the networks are compatable, but worst comes to worst, I'll download skype -- it's free, right? WE WILL MAKE THIS WORK. *hug*

Holy man I'm so envious! I'd have died of joy if I was assigned that book in class (back when i was in school!). Heh May the plotbunnies flourish and breed throughout the assignment! XD

I'm psyched. Apparently I'm like second-in-command to the teacher now 'cuz I've read it and know my stuff, and am actually getting people who otherwise wouldn't care to get involved. *victory dance*

I expect the plot bunnies will eat me alive soon, but it won't be bad. :P
