Things I want to be writing about right now:

+ Last Friday's Magical Science Adventure with my STS class to a coal-fired power plant, a vineyard atop a reclaimed mine, and an active mountaintop removal site. Ohhhh, do I have stories for you.

How a couple of friends and I got invited out to lunch by two of our professors to discuss blogging, fandom and internet culture in general in an academic context. Yeah, not exactly sure how that worked either, but it was ridiculous and kind of great.

Yes indeed! Dr. Campbell and Dr. Fowler are the people behind the blogging initiative, and Emily, Emily's roommate, and I are among the limited number of people here who don't loathe it with every fiber of our beings. In an effort to improve the system, they decided they'd like to hold a discussion over lunch at Bull and Bones (!) to see if we or anybody we'd talked to had any ideas about how to make this program better ( ... )

I'm actually laughing about your comment about your fifty-year-old professor. I have fandom friends in their 70s and one who just turned 80 who regularly makes screencaps from which she makes graphics of various kinds.

MFU, for instance, was first broadcast 48 years ago and there are some fans who've been in fandom since then. ST is almost that old. Pros has had a slash fandom since it started 35 years ago.

Oooo. Bull and Bones. Free steak Cheeseburger, El? ALWAYS ORDER STEAK. Might almost be worth the supreme discomfort at talking slashfic and fandom with someone from the preinternet generation. Was there judging? Because the few times I've talked with someone IRL about fandom, there was judging.

Your professors sound pretty awesome though.

(You need no luck on the internship because you've got this. BECAUSE YOU'RE AWESOME.)

You really have my sympathies here as that difference between what I want to be writing and have to be writing is a sharp one.

Mostly though, I'm hear to wish you luck for the internship interview, not that you need luck. ♥
