Deck the Halls [open]

It was December. Of course, this wasn't terribly apparent on the Enterprise, and mostly irrelevant to the non-Terran members of the crew. Despite this, Angela wasn't about to let the whole holiday season go by unnoticed. She loved holidays, and she was going to decorate the Officer's Lounge, along with any other space she thought she could get away ( Read more... )

It wouldn't be a surprise for Angela, or anyone else in the Officer's Lounge, to find her sitting at a table with a PADD in her hand. Her shift also recently ended - yes, she leaves the lab on time (occasionally) - and she decided that taking some time out to read and relax was the best thing to do; neither would last long.

Distracted by Angela's naturally commanding presence, and the rather bright objects she carried with her, Mira glanced up from her reading. She shook her head and smiled to herself. "Angela," she asked, catching her as she walked passed. "What are you up to?" Her voice held suspicion.

"Nothing!" Angela answered cheerfully. "Just decorating." That was an understatement. She set the box down, and held up a couple items for inspection - a large snowflake in one hand and a fistful of tinsel in the other. Some of the tinsel drifted out of her hand and stuck to the couch. "There are still holidays, in space, you know," she added seriously.

She put the tinsel back in the box, and set to attaching the snowflake to the wall. "You want to help? I've got tons of decorations!" Angela flashed Mira a smile. "Come on, I need help putting up twinkle lights!"

"Decorating?" The word left her mouth as her head tilted curiously to the side. "I don't disagree with you, but isn't it a little early?" If she was correct, they still had a good few weeks, unless time had slipped past her - it had a habit of doing so.

Sitting in her chair with legs crossed, she leaned forward to get a look into the box full of glittering decorations. She stopped asking where Angela attained the things she had a while ago. One of her eyebrows rose into the air as she watched her trying to hang the snowflake. "Are you allowed to put those up?" she asked, but somehow she already knew the answer.

"But it's December!" Angela replied, looking a little startled. "How long am I supposed to wait?"

She grinned as she pulled more things from the box - a giant bow with bells and a reindeer. "Let's just say I haven't been told I couldn't put anything up." Angela shook the bells at her friend. "Come on. You know you want to get into the holiday spirit."

Pike decided to take a walk, albeit a slow one, from his office on the Enterprise to the Officer's Lounge. The medical staff told him he should walk as much as possible, so that's what he was doing. So what if it resulted in him collapsing in a chair in the far corner of the room and waiting at least 20 minutes before going back, he walked.

When he finally made it to the doors, he was surprised to see Ensign Martine, with, could that be christmast lights?

"I'm sure Mr. Spock is going to love the ones that blink, Ensign."

"Admiral!" Angela greeted him, looking slightly like she'd been caught in the act of committing a crime. "It's good to see you on your feet."

Glancing down at the lights in her hands, she smirked. "The Commander could use a little holiday cheer." Her smirk spread into a wide smile. "I'm going to get one of the engineers to rig a program so they dance to some songs!"

Pike laughed. He could only imagine Spock's face when he realized the lights were in sync with the music.

"When you do, let me know. I want to see the look he gives you."

Angela had to admit she was a little relieved when he laughed. "Let me know if you have any song requests."

She handed him a wreath. "You want to do the honors?"

Pavel knew that the chances of Scotty being in the officer’s lounge instead of Engineering were slim, but he had a question about quantum fissures, warp fields, and the subspace barrier. They had gotten theorizing about alternate realities in their off time(or more accurately, when Pavel managed to corner him). But the lounge was so much closer then Engineering, so he figured he'd check there first.

Pavel, not about to enter the officer’s lounge without permission, stood at the door and rang the comm unit.

Angela looked up from her tinsel and blinking lights and stared at the door. Had it just rang? She was unaware that the door even had a buzzer of any sort.

Instead of using the comm unit, she opened the door. Seeing Chekov, she was momentarily puzzled as to why he bothered to buzz the door anyway. Greeting him cheerfully with a "Hi!" she beamed at him. "What's up?"

Pavel trailed off suddenly and shot Angela a highly concerned look, “You are Ensign, yes? I...Zis is against regulations and- is zat tinsel?”

She shrugged. "Don't worry about it! That rule isn't real. It's just for show."

Angela picked a piece of tinsel off her uniform. "Yup. I'm decorating! It's a surprise for the Captain and Commander Spock." She bit her lip, holding back a laugh at the mental image of Spock and her Christmas decorations. "Scotty's not here, but you can help if you want."

Lily walked into the officer's lounge, then stopped.

"Oh."

There were -- decorations! Everywhere! Lights, tinsel, was that a little tree? Were those reindeer cut-outs tacked to the wall? Oh, Americans. They're so adorable and cheery and she wanted egg-nog and to go caroling. She looked around for the culprit, although the doctor already had a few ideas just who might be behind something as fantastical as this.

Angela turned at the sound of Lily's voice. "Hi! I didn't hear the door open." She gestured largely to the decorations. "Well? What do you think? Just like being on Earth, right?"

"Why am I not surprised you're to thank for this?" Lily grinned, turning in a circle and nodding approvingly at the delightful mess. "Very, very nice."

"Thanks!" she beamed. "It'll be perfect for the Christmas party, don't you think?" Angela grinned. "Ooh, and wait till you see where I put the mistletoe."
