I would like to speak with those interested in forming a new Chess Club, with a focus on learning chess variants across different worlds as well as tournament-style play.

Chess? It's relevant to my interests.

Good morning! We met earlier. I was hoping to see whether there would be enough interest, yes. Somewhere like Starfleet, plenty of people must play, I think.

I would hope so. Chess is a very good method to train the mind.

Mm! It certainly is. I enjoy it for that, and because it also relaxes me.

A chess club? Of course, it should not surprise me that the game of kings would be of interest to those here. The question is, will any be talented enough in such sport?

Kunzite, we have many bright students here. I am sure quite a large number would be talented.

Bright, yes, but bright does not mean that one has the intelligence, skill, and patience for such a noble game. However, I would be quite happy to assist you in forming such a- club. After all, you would need someone firm enough to weed out those who are not able to keep up.

Thank you very much for offering to help, but, I think it would be better to encourage them to improve by staying within the club.

Soo. What abou three-dimensional chess?

mizuno_hime May 27 2009, 23:09:14 UTC
Mm! That would certainly be a variant we would be interested in working with, I think. Do you agree?

Oh, I agree, but that's mostly out of an interest of wanting to learn how to play it.

Ah! Maybe... maybe it would be best to make sure we can also teach new interested players. Thank you for the suggestion.

Oooooooooooh it's been a while since I had a good chess game. Last time, my queen just totally destroyed Peter's set and then started dancing around on the crushed pieces.

Eh? Moving pieces? A hologram?

stagginurparty May 28 2009, 00:48:37 UTC
Of course they move, if they didn't it's just normal, boring chess.

[a small, pleasant laugh]

I think that would be fun to see. Do you have a set here?

The different types of chess would be interesting to learn. I would be interested.

You would certainly be most welcome to sign up. Which variants are you familiar with?

The older version of earth chess that was taught in the 20th century... Usually you can change the style of pieces, but it's played the same. Nothing really fancy, just one flat board and non-moving pieces. I was taught it by one of my guardians when I wasn't able to work on violins.

My most familiar is the same one.
