What a great chapter. Excellent AUing, to find a way to have Wormtail be at Hogwarts in disguise even though no one's an Animagus here. (Defence professor, no less, heh.) Hooray for Harry (and Hermione), for giving poor Sirius a chance to explain. And Snape cut a rather more dashing figure here than he does in PoA. ;)
But the end -- aiyee. Maybe the curse-form of the Beast is immune to werewolves the way and Animagus form would be? That then leads to some interesting questions about what a "happy ending" for this story would actually be...
Can't wait for the last part -- but we're having company for a few days, so I'm not sure when I'll be online again, rrgh.

Yes, AUing this stuff is so much fun! It might actually be my new favorite thing in fic, to experiment with these "what ifs" and see what does and doesn't change as a result. (Which is funny, because I'd never even written an AU, ever, until a little over a year ago.) This AU, though, was particularly fun, because it was two of us brainstorming together - and through a great coincidence of timing, we even got to do it in person, walking around on a super hot day in May, going, "Ooh, what if X-" "But if Y, then does Z-" "Do you think it could be-"
Enjoy your visitors! That sounds like an interruption worth giving up a few days of internet for. :-)
