Aww!!
I'm certainly developing a taste for Crookshanks' POV fic that I didn't know I had, haha, and this is so lovely.

Crookshanks would never understand why humans insisted on trying to communicate with imperfect words, when one sniff of each other could have told them all they needed to know.
Haha! Maybe Harry ought to take dating advice from Crookshanks :)

he would sometimes curl up next to the big black dog, late at night when the others in the house were dreaming in their beds, and Crookshanks would purr and rub his face against the dog’s shaggy side, and the dog would whuff softly back, and the smell of sorrow would retreat for a time.

Oh, Sirius... I think a warm, cuddly cat might have given Sirius/Padfoot some comfort, at least for a little while.

Love the names Crookshanks have for the humans - like Harry Potter, the obtuse but kind one and loud and daft Ron Weasley, and how that later became Ron Weasley, the loud, ginger-haired one. Crookshanks didn't have too many reasons to tink highly of Ron after what happened in ( ... )

Thank you! And I feel the same - stereolightning did it first, and I instantly loved her cat POV. So much fun to try to think like a cat.

Yup, Crookshanks had every reason to find Ron beyond useless, given the circumstances of that first year they knew each other, but I like to think Ron proved himself over time - mostly through proving that he, like Crookshanks, is utterly devoted to Hermione. :-)

So pleased you enjoyed it! You're the one who first inspired me to think Crookshanks, as you know. :-)

And yes, please, Crookshanks and Padfoot friendship forever! (Are you familiar with that fanon idea of Crookshanks secretly being Regulus in Animagus form? Fun!)

Aw, this is fun! I'm also enjoying all the Crookshanks fic around these days. Favorite bits here are the way he has everyone's measure, and his unexpected sympathy for Sirius (I did like the idea of them being friendly in POA when Sirius had no one at all). But especially Ron's moment at the end, which shows as much as anything how much he has grown and changed since the year of hunting Horcruxes started.

(I see lots more interesting fic of yours to read, here and at rt_ml, and I'll be back!)

Thank you! Reading Crookshanks' perspective was so much fun that I had to try it too... And I liked the idea of looking at Ron this way!

LOL, I think we're all well on the way to starting a fan club for Crookshanks. Which he'd think was only right and proper! I have had a great fondness for intelligent ginger cats ever since we had our own, much-missed Rosie. More accurately, she had us - we never got much say from the day she moved in!

There's so much fun seeing the characters through a cat's perspective, and watching him use his sense of smell to work out human moods. The idea of him sleeping side by side with Sirius, and easing the 'musty smell of melancholy' is both sad and lovely. I love his relationship with Hermione; the way she talks to him and him growling at her 'betrayal'. And then there's Ron of course: how nice then that it's him, of all people, who has learnt what matters most because Hermione is so important to them both.

Lovely!

Hurrah, fans for Crookshanks! Entirely warranted, of course, as Crookshanks himself would agree. ;-) I fell in love with the idea of Crookshanks POV when stereolightning first posted her story a while back, then your story of Crookshanks' take on Remus and Tonks got me kick-started into this idea of what Crookshanks might come to think of Ron... I think Crookshanks feels about Ron the way I do: skeptical at first about whether he's really a good match for Hermione, but willing to be won over in the end by the loyalty and caring he shows.

How wonderful.
This was just a delight. Crookshanks' POV is so very clear and clever. And I love the way he swung around until he actually tolerated Ron. Lovely!
Great job!

Oh, thank you so much! I really can't tell you how much fun I had trying to get inside Crookshanks' head - and finding a point of connection between him and Ron. :-)
