I'm not too sure how far are you wth the episodes, and I might spoil you if I explain. In my opinion, I believe Simone to be quite impulsive, when she became Kanako's body guard just get revenge on her. Which does also show she did get emotional and didn't exactly think about anything else. She had probably did some check on Kanako before she joined her (like your "Obey at first, check out the risks, research, then go for it at a later date."). Also she only wanted to do so for the sake of her...was it sister?...but eventually she still stays on her own will.
Or something like for an explantion... I'm probably way off (like always) ><;
