So like, it always kind of bothered me how Sora seemed less compassionate in COM and KH2 than in KH1, especially towards the Org members. While KH2 could be explained by Roxas' resentment towards the Org (even more so after Days), COM was left hanging.

...I think I just figured it out.

I always find it interesting when people try to find ways to justify the way Sora treated the Org. when, in reality, he treated people like Maleficent and "Ansem" the same way. Of course, no one really gives a crap about the Disney Villains and "Ansem", do they?

And I can hardly blame him for not being compassionate towards someone who wants to kill him and/or destroy the universe.

I think the same, but it is kinda startling when all of a sudden Sora, the adorable little kid, is being so harsh and uncaring.
Sometimes I have fun writing...or thinking about writing...or contemplating thinking about writing...the time Sora had a mental breakdown after realizing that yeah, they might have been evil, but they sort of had a reason and they were actual people, so he killed a whole bunch of people who actually did have cause to do what they did. If that makes sense.

Hm, I don't really get why you'd think of Sora as "harsh and uncaring" in KH2. It's like harpie_siren said, he treated OrgXIII pretty much the same way he treated Maleficent and "Ansem", and with good reasons too. I mean, they tried to kill him on numerous occasions, kidnapped his best friend, etc. etc. yet it's like suddenly HE's the bad guy (not that you're saying he is, it's just something I've seen people around the internet say).
Though I do admit it'd would be great if Sora got to know a little more about the Nobodies, and realized that not everything is so black and white when it comes to the "bad guys" (hopefully, he might have come to that conclusion by the end of KH2, what with Axel's death and all that).
