I'm so tired now - I was up late watching the Pistons and post-game coverage. I got maybe 4 hours of sleep. I took a nap when I got home today - now I feel even more exhausted

What's the big deal?

So what's the big deal about Deliverance? I mean, it was a good enough movie, and they did a good job with the suspense factor. To tell you the truth, it was kind of a let-down because I expected so much more due to the cultural hype. I find it very unfortunate that it is best known for the "squeal like a pig" scene...The movie is really about survivial and performing extraordinay tasks in its pursuit (i.e. Ed climbing the gorge), and the destruction of wilderness in the name of progress...

The hillbillies' attack on our protagonists can be seen as nature symbolically "striking back" against the progress of civilization. The protagonists eventually defeat the hillbillies and the river, much in the same way that the power company defeats the small towns and the river by successfully damming it.

That's just my two cents...

Gee, I thought it was best known for the dueling banjos :) Actually, I like your analysis - though I don't necessarily believe that the protagonists defeated the river - I think the nightmare at the end shows that the river would still haunt them in their dreams. Escaping with your life does not necessarily mean you were victorious.

hi just a internet peruser passing though happened to read all of your entries and had a few things to say. First of all, get over these people you talk about from your past, it seems to have been a long time ago, let go. you seem to been VERY involved in your sports and your guy friend, stick with that, it seems good for you and by all means the past is something that HAPPENED ALREADY, there is no need to make it part of the present or your future. Remember it how you wish to, but stop dwelling, it will never do you any good, and you will never be able to move on. wich you must do and soon, if you really want to marry this guy and have and exclusive, evolved and complete relationship with him. you seem like bright girl, be happy with what you have, because no matter how you look at things the grass will always be greener on the other side if you don't water your own.
