bsg discussion #15 (with a little dr who & stargate thrown in)

Aug 14, 2006 15:58

From the looks of it, it appears that SciFi is going to go ahead and proceed with its new format for airing its Friday shows. This means we'll be getting a straight shot of Battlestar Galactica (and Dr Who apparently?) from October until March (excluding four weeks for the Christmas holidays). In turn, it will mean another six months of no new ( Read more... )

Doctor Who won't run that long, as it only has 13 episodes in a season ( ... )

I never said it was a problem having to wait for the actual episodes (at least, not in this post, hee). The real problem lies with trying to avoid the spoilers that have gone from slowly trickling out to now being rampant as October rolls closer and closer. It's easy to restrain myself looking for them, but it's impossible to avoid every place they might be lurking. I hate that I have to be very mindful of every article and flist post that has the words 'Battlestar Galactica.'

I actually like the new idea of switching off the Stargates with Galactica because of the fact that it'll mean less reruns of all three shows. I tried to articulate that in the original post, but I think I came off more as worrying about the future of the Stargates with the crummy ratings.

I have the same reaction as you- I don't mind switching out Atlantis and BSG every 6 months (and I'm thrilled DW will be with BSG), but I'm nervous that Atlantis won't make it that long.

Bring on Studio 60!

Ratings for "Progeny" improved slightly, which isn't as good as it sounds, but it could be worse. They could have stayed the same or dipped even further. Maybe word got around that "Sateda" totally kicked ass and this show definitely has a future.

I don't even know when Studio 60 starts! September, I figure.

Well, a 1.6 is better than a 1.4, but nothing to write home about. Better than SG-1 though!

I think Studio 60 starts in September, too.

Indeed.

They have been promoting the hell out of 200, though. D'ya think ratings are likely to improve, particularly because a certain someone will be back for not one but TWO back-to-back episodes Friday night? :)

I don't think it's so bad, sure we have the long wait at the beginning, but at least not that mid season break that always seemed soooo long.

Like I said, if we can have BSG for half a year, and SGA (and better SG1 eps) the other half of the year, I think it's a great idea!

I dunno. Anytime BSG isn't on the air, there's always a crackling tension to get it back as soon as possible. Doesn't matter if it's six months or one month, hee!
