Oh yeah, total Anne moment there! I thought originally the words "sharp knife of a short life" was referring to suicide, but in fact I think it's just a figurative metaphor for how incredibly painful it is when a young person passes away with so much life to spare.
I should explain, the lead singer looks pretty exactly how I pictured Lucy at 17, and with her two brothers walking with her, and her mum "ain't even gray but she buries her baby", and "wearing white when I come into Your kingdom," and the general knowledge of how young Lucy was when she died. And then I start tearing up thinking about the train crash and how it's NOT FAIR that Aslan just kills everybody and kills Narnia and brings everybody to his country and then is not a True Beast anymore. And it's so sad. ::SOB::
