I'm on every single dayxarsenickxNovember 29 2008, 19:25:20 UTC
for probably longer than I should be on- I use it for everything, to keep in touch with people, to pay for things, to be entertained, to research.. I'd have to plan ahead to disconnect for even a couple days. That is not a bad idea, though! How much time could be refocused into doing something more valuable if we were able to shut down the computer for a little longer, especially when we'd otherwise just be watching youtube, or something similar?
well, i feel that not using the internet for a day is nearly impossible. I did it recently right before Thanksgiving, and I got three angry emails from various jobs/activities asking me why I didn't respond to their email. But, we can and should limit the time in a day we use it. Let' make a pact to only use the internet for.....an hour in a day. I mean, as a start. Because we have to wean ourselves off. So throughout the day, we have an hour's time. So, if you check your email and go off, you have like 55 minutes left or something. What do you think?
I JUST spent a day without internet this weekend. It was greatness. It wasn't by choice though (I was catsitting) but I don't regret it. I just watched movies and played video games and read a whole lot.
