I know the feeling. I felt that way about Dead Like Me (as you may have guessed).

I've only seen one episode of Life on Mars after reading about it from other squeeing fans. I'm glad you like it but whatever it is that you see in it didn't grab me.

You may want to give it another couple episodes. I had rather mixed feelings about it from the first episode too, but I was hooked by episode three or four.

I'd gathered that. ;) FWIW, I like what I've seen of DLM (season one and the first few eps of s2). I think it's too dark grab me like LoM, Firefly, or Starman does.

As ashoemaker said, you might want to give LoM another try. Personally, I was hooked by the first episode -- enough that I made it past the second ep. It was almost all police procedural, which doesn't hold my interest.

Did you know that an American version of LoM is in the works? Also a UK spinoff?

Yes and yes. I'm looking forward to "Ashes to Ashes." The American version of LoM, not so much.
