On the day before the Ankh
left the Apollo system, as the rest of the galaxy measured time, she arrived at
Starbase 668. "Ankh to Milliways," the Ankh announced herself, "this is Captain
Storvik, requesting permission to come aboard the station."
"Greetings, Cap-" the communications officer began. She stopped and then asked, amazed, "You're a captain, now? Of a runabout? Well, I suppose than makes more sense than the time you arrived here
piloting a rock." She logged
Storvik's name into the database, and told him that he had permission to dock. However, due to
an order given by the previous commander of
Starbase 668, the computer automatically deleted
Storvik's name from the list of arrivals, which would be seen by the station's command staff … and forwarded to Starfleet command as part of the routine reports.
As the rest of the galaxy measured time, this was the day before the Ankh had left the Apollo system. As they had measured time on the Ankh, several years had passed since that departure. The three Vulcan adults who entered
Starbase 668 were accompanied by a girl who was almost eight years old.
