When you lay the hat flat, you will see two needles laying on top of eachother on each side. Those pairs of needles must be combined onto one needle to bind off. It may help to do one half and then the other. Take the right two needles and your fifth DP. Slip the stitches onto the fifth one from one needle and one from the other. Continue alternating until they all have been moved. Bind off. I used the Decreasing Bind Off. See pattern notes. Turn the hat inside out and bury the ends.

Finishing
Put the hat on and position the eyes and beak using a mirror. Sew them in place with the tapestry needle. Stitch on the buttons to make the eyeballs. Go back to the mirror and do your best impression of an owl!
About the Designer:
Tasia is often accused of wearing costumes in place of clothing. That is true. It’s fun. This is the first design she has written and she anticipates more. Oh the things you can make with string and sticks!
