Only bad will is cruelty. Only the desire to negate facts is cruelty.

That picture is good, though I'm rooting against that "protagonist." Not everybody who seeks the heights is nearly worthy!

Foolishly, I wrote a long e-mail in reply to this.

hm, while, according to my unreliable european informations, gay people did not actually invade the u.s., to force their will to marry each other (up the ass), anyway, it reminded me of an interview with saul bellow, were he speaks about american culture, and how long there's never been any wars in their own country, etc., and, quite shocked, you realise, that in this "critical intelectuals" mind, native americans/"indians" don't even exist. he also thought it funny to write a book on the notion that more people die from heartache then from environmental pollution and technical catastrophees like chernobyl ...

Where I grew up, a lot of people died accidentally, while 'cleaning their gun.'

My mom's obviously cracked, here. I'd like to know how the Jesus book got all the way to America from Palestine, for example.

well, if "you" can own america, you can also own any book that originated in palestine, by mistake ...
in case of any doubts, he has all the answers:

but, mr. chick is much more upbeat about the (w)hol(y) thing than your mom, he knows how to deal with 'em musulmans: just talk to them with reason, and all problems are solved:

Yeah, that's the part I really don't understand.

My mother believes the 'end times' are going to happen in her lifetime.

Really? That's awful. I don't understand people who feel that way. How difficult is it for you to accept that the person who gave birth to you and fed you and clothed you, etc., etc., is this way? Has she always been this way? I don't know how I would cope. I would, of course, cope; I'm just not sure how it would all play out. I am grateful every day that I realize my mother and father are sane, liberal, rational and progressive.

With any luck, she won't want to drive back up there the next day.

I rarely indulge in this kind of discussion with her, and I really shouldn't have this time either. It just makes her unhappy.
